Upbit halts ICX/KRW trading (delisting stage 1)
On 19 October 2026 at 15:00 KST (06:00 in the schedule's reference time), South Korean exchange Upbit stops trading the ICX/KRW pair for ICON's ICX token and cancels all open orders. It is the first stage of Upbit's delisting of ICX and removes the token's last large market.
What is happening
At the close of trading, Upbit will cancel every order still sitting in the ICX order book, so a sell limit placed far above the market price will be returned rather than filled. The exchange cites security risks it considers unresolved after a replay attack on the ICON chain at the end of August. According to reports, two signed withdrawal messages were reused 1,492 times on 27 August, releasing 119.9 million ICX and 531,600 bnUSD and halting the chain for about 25 hours. Upbit placed ICX on its warning list on 28 August and later decided to end trading support.
The delisting runs in two stages. After trading ends on 19 October, balances can still be withdrawn until 18 November 2026. After that date Upbit ends all support for the token, including airdrops, wallet upgrades, migrations and hard forks. Upbit's own notice is not freely accessible from outside Korea, so the details rest on reporting by Korean and international trade media.
The step comes during a wider wind-down. Bitvavo and OKX have already ended ICX trading, and the ICON blockchain is scheduled to shut down on 31 December 2026, the same date the ICX-to-SODA swap ends.
Why it matters
The won pair is ICX's only remaining pair on Upbit and its last large market. It turned over roughly $348,000 to $373,000 in a day, around 45 to 48 percent of the token's global daily turnover of about $776,000, against a market value of roughly $14.9 million. Losing that share leaves the remaining venues thinner, so larger sales are more likely to move the price. Upbit's price also carried a premium of about eight percent over the world market, and that demand disappears with the pair.
For holders, the practical window is between 19 October and 18 November: a balance on Upbit can no longer be sold but can still be withdrawn. The end of migration support after 18 November matters because the ICX-to-SODA swap is technically a migration process, so holders who leave tokens on Upbit lose the option of having the exchange handle it. Self-custodied balances do not migrate automatically and require the holder to act through the project's official portal. This is general information, not financial or tax advice.
