SECT one-time 50% token burn

15 March 2027, Monday
Online Location
SECT Sectora Foundation

Sectora Foundation has scheduled a one-time burn of 50% of the SECT token supply for March 15, 2027. The burn will cut total supply from 50 million to 25 million SECT.

What is happening

According to the foundation's announcement, half of the 50 million SECT in existence will be permanently removed from supply on March 15, 2027, leaving 25 million tokens. SECT is the token of Sectora's cybersecurity network for crypto infrastructure and tokenized assets, and it is available on Uniswap through the SECT/USDT pair on Ethereum.

The project states that supply cannot grow after the burn. The smart contract is renounced and contains no mint function, it charges 0% transaction fees, and it has been audited by Cyberscope. The foundation also says liquidity is locked through Team Finance.

Separately from the scheduled burn, Sectora says that 80% of every hash power purchase on its upcoming hash market will be used to buy back and burn SECT on the open market. The hash market is one of four products that, per the announcement, are in final testing on testnet ahead of launch. At the time of the announcement, SECT's market capitalization was approximately $5 million.

Why it matters

A burn of this size halves the number of SECT tokens in existence. For holders, it means each remaining token represents a larger share of a fixed, smaller supply. Because the contract has no mint function, the project presents the reduced supply as final. Whether a lower supply has any effect on market value depends on demand and wider market conditions, and nothing here should be read as a price forecast.

For traders, the date is a fixed reference point for supply-related news around the token. It is worth watching whether the burn is carried out as described, whether the transaction can be verified on-chain, and how the ongoing buyback-and-burn mechanism from hash market purchases develops once that product launches. Small-cap tokens can be volatile around announced events, so the usual caution applies. This is not financial advice.
