Samsung Wallet USDC stablecoin support launch for US Galaxy users
Samsung Electronics America is rolling out stablecoin support in Samsung Wallet for eligible Galaxy users in the US during the last week of October 2026, from October 26 to October 31. The feature starts with Circle's USDC on the Solana network.
What is happening
Samsung Electronics America, the US sales, marketing and customer service arm of the Samsung Group, announced the scheduled launch of stablecoin support for its digital wallet app. Samsung Wallet is pre-installed on Galaxy smartphones in the US and serves as their default wallet. Besides contactless NFC payments, it stores keys, IDs, credit card details, membership cards and cashback in one place.
The first supported token is USDC, a regulated stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. The goal is to improve the wallet's cross-border capabilities by enabling near real-time, 24/7, low-cost international transfers directly from a Galaxy device.
The feature relies on Samsung's partnership with Solana (SOL). According to the announcement, the integration extends access to financial solutions to more than 82 million Galaxy devices in the US. Lily Liu, President of the Solana Foundation, said stablecoins have proven the technology works but lacked a route to the mainstream, and that Samsung's decision puts digital dollars into everyday life.
Why it matters
The launch places stablecoin functionality inside a default app on a very large installed base of smartphones. For USDC and the Solana network, this is a potential new channel for everyday transfers outside the usual crypto exchange and wallet environment. Per RWA.xyz data cited in the source, Solana holds more than $19.59 billion in total real-world asset value, driven mostly by stablecoins, with USDC contributing about $6.75 billion to the network's stablecoin float and Tether's USDT about $2.91 billion.
For holders and traders, the points to watch are how quickly the feature reaches eligible users during the launch window, which devices qualify, and whether on-chain USDC activity on Solana changes after rollout. The announcement does not specify further details such as fees, transfer limits or additional stablecoins, so these remain open questions.
