Innovator Uncapped Bitcoin 20 Floor ETF (QBF) liquidation

31 – 08 Dec – Jan 2026, Thu–Fri
Online Location
BTC Innovator ETFs

Innovator ETFs is liquidating its Innovator Uncapped Bitcoin 20 Floor ETF - Quarterly (QBF), a fund tied to Bitcoin (BTC). Trading in the fund halts after the market close on December 31, 2026, and cash is distributed to shareholders on January 8, 2027.

What is happening

QBF is a Bitcoin strategy ETF, meaning it tracks Bitcoin indirectly rather than holding the cryptocurrency itself. It invests in FLEX options on a Bitcoin ETF index, targeting uncapped Bitcoin upside with a 20% floor, and it charges a fee of 0.79%.

According to the fund's listing, the fund is liquidating. Shares stop trading after the close on December 31, 2026. Shareholders still holding the fund at that point will receive their payout in cash on January 8, 2027.

QBF is not the only Bitcoin-linked fund being wound down. The same source notes that the Global X Bitcoin Trend Strategy ETF (BTRN) stops trading after the close on October 16, 2026, and that the CoinShares Bitcoin and Ether ETF (BTF) halts trading before the open on October 21, 2026.

Why it matters

For holders, the liquidation means the position will be closed by the issuer and converted to cash. Anyone who wants to keep Bitcoin exposure beyond the liquidation date would need to choose another product, such as a spot Bitcoin ETF or another strategy fund. Holders who do nothing receive the cash distribution instead of continued exposure. Tax treatment and the exact payout depend on individual circumstances and the fund's final net asset value, so shareholders may wish to check with their broker or tax adviser.

For traders, the last trading session sets a hard deadline for exiting the position on the exchange. Liquidity and spreads in funds approaching closure can differ from normal conditions. The closure also reflects a wider thinning of the Bitcoin strategy ETF lineup, which remains large and varied. It does not change how spot Bitcoin ETFs operate.
