The Clearing House tokenized deposits network availability (Quant as technology partner)
The Clearing House, the settlement company owned by large US banks, has chosen Quant as technology partner for a tokenized deposits network, which is due to become available to participating institutions in the first half of 2027. The date is given at quarter precision, so no exact day applies. The coin involved is QNT.
What is happening
In late September 2026, The Clearing House selected Quant Network as technology partner for a network for tokenized deposits. The Clearing House carries a substantial share of American payment traffic. A tokenized deposit is commercial bank money recorded as an entry on a blockchain: not a coin of its own, but a claim against the issuing bank.
Quant is to supply the layer for orchestration and transaction management. According to trade media reports, the project is explicitly not designed around a shared token. Instead it aims at interoperability between the deposit platforms of individual banks. A second strand of the project, a dedicated layer-2 blockchain, has neither a provider nor a date so far.
The network is due to be available to participating institutions in the first half of 2027. Quant's wider banking work includes a demonstration with the capital markets software supplier Murex, shown around the Sibos conference in late September 2026: a repo in US dollars against a tokenized US Treasury, with the cash leg settled through tokenized deposits. A trade-fair demonstration is not yet live operation with real volumes.
Why it matters
For Quant, the mandate is one of the most significant in the company's history. Quant Network Ltd is a London-based software company led by founder Gilbert Verdian, and its Overledger software is meant to let banks settle payments across different blockchains. A role in infrastructure built for a US bank-owned clearing institution puts that product in front of regulated financial institutions at scale.
For QNT holders and traders, the open question is how much token demand follows. Quant's current FAQ names two ways to pay for the platform: a fee in US dollars or a subscription in QNT. The company does not publish how much runs through which route, and the source does not say what role QNT plays in this specific network. Supply is tight, with roughly 14.56 million tokens circulating against a maximum of about 14.61 million, though data services differ on exact figures. The price has historically reacted to news about banking mandates, so progress, delays or details on the project may be relevant to market sentiment. This is not a forecast or advice.
