XRPL Core Dev Bootcamp
The XRPL Core Dev Bootcamp is a three-day workshop held in New York from October 20 to 22, 2026, organized by XRPL Commons for engineers working on the XRP Ledger. It is tied to XRP and the XRPL ecosystem and runs just ahead of a hackathon in the same city.
What is happening
The bootcamp is aimed at C++ and systems engineers who work on XRPL amendments, client implementations and tooling. It runs for three days, from October 20 to 22, in New York, and has been confirmed by the organizer.
The sessions feed directly into the Protocol Innovation track of the AI and Fintech XRPL Hackathon, which takes place on October 24 and 25. That hackathon is a 36-hour event run by XRPL Commons, the Paris-based nonprofit, with backing from Ripple, the XRPL Foundation, Mastercard, Ledger, AWS and QuickNode. More than 400 builders have signed up. Protocol Innovation is one of several tracks, alongside Lending & Borrowing, Agentic Finance and an open lane called "Why Not."
The wider program includes work around two proposed amendments, the XRP Ledger Lending Protocol (XLS-66) and Single Asset Vaults (XLS-65). Amendments are adopted only after validators support them with more than 80% for two continuous weeks, and neither proposal has an activation date yet. Registration for the hackathon runs through the official event page, and XRPL Commons has warned that imitation pages have circulated.
Why it matters
Core protocol work on the XRP Ledger depends on a relatively small pool of engineers who can write and review C++ code, maintain client implementations and build tooling. A dedicated multi-day session gives these contributors time to work together before the hackathon and may help produce prototypes and feedback that validators can use when judging proposed amendments.
For XRP holders and traders, the bootcamp is a development-side event rather than a market-moving one. It has no direct token mechanics, but it is part of the effort to expand what the ledger can do natively, including lending and vault features that are still only proposals. Anyone following XRPL protocol progress may want to watch for amendment discussions, project announcements from the hackathon and the Swell 2026 conference, which opens in New York on October 27.
