Samsung Wallet USDC cross-border transfers on Solana launch
Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay are set to let U.S. users send USDC across borders on the Solana network, with the rollout scheduled for the last week of October 2026 (October 26-31). The feature involves the USDC stablecoin and the Solana network, whose native token is SOL.
What is happening
The Solana Foundation announced that Samsung Wallet, and Samsung Pay alongside it, will support cross-border transfers of Circle's USDC stablecoin on Solana. At launch the feature will be available on 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices. Built-in fiat on- and off-ramps will convert to and from local currency, while Solana's infrastructure works "behind the scenes" so users do not have to deal with traditional crypto tools.
The launch follows Samsung's statement at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London in July, where the company said Samsung Wallet would add native stablecoin support and showed a mockup holding USDC. At that time no launch date, issuer or blockchain was named. Additional markets are expected to follow the U.S. launch, subject to local regulatory requirements.
The announcement leaves several questions open: it does not say whether Circle is a formal partner, whether users will hold their own keys, or what transfers will cost.
Why it matters
For Solana, the integration places the network inside a wallet that ships on a very large installed base of consumer phones. The Foundation points to rising stablecoin activity on the network, with supply up nearly 20% year over year and more than $5.25 trillion in stablecoin volume processed in 2026, and cites PayPal and Western Union as enterprises already using Solana for stablecoins. A mainstream consumer entry point could add to this usage, though actual adoption will only become visible after launch.
For USDC holders and traders, the event is worth watching as a test of whether stablecoin payments can reach everyday users through a familiar brand rather than a dedicated crypto app. Details that remain unconfirmed, such as fees and key custody, will shape how attractive the service is in practice.
