SEC final decision on WisdomTree spot XRP ETF
The SEC faces its last October deadline on October 24, 2026, to approve or disapprove WisdomTree's spot XRP trust, filed through Cboe BZX. The ruling concerns XRP exposure from the largest asset manager still waiting on an XRP ETF verdict.
What is happening
October 24 is the final date on which the SEC must act on WisdomTree's spot XRP trust. WisdomTree manages roughly $113 billion in assets, based on the company's own September figures. This is the last of a run of six XRP ETF rulings in six days: Grayscale's and 21Shares' products received decisions on October 18 and 19, Bitwise's deadline fell on October 22, and Canary Capital and CoinShares followed on October 23.
Much of this wave has already cleared. Grayscale's XRP Trust converted to an ETF and trades on NYSE Arca under the ticker GXRP. Bitwise's fund trades on the NYSE under the ticker XRP, with a 0.34% management fee that is waived for the first month on the first $500 million in assets. Franklin Templeton's XRPZ is also live and drew the bulk of net inflows on October 22. Cumulative XRP ETF trading volume has passed $1.57 billion, according to KuCoin.
The outcome is not guaranteed. The SEC has already delayed WisdomTree's timeline once, citing the need for a longer period before issuing an approval or disapproval order, so a further delay is possible. Cointelegraph counted 16 crypto ETF applications with final SEC deadlines in October, covering Solana, Litecoin and Dogecoin funds alongside XRP, and the WisdomTree ruling is the last on that list.
Why it matters
For the XRP market, the significance lies in who is asking. WisdomTree is a mainstream asset manager with advisory and retirement-plan relationships that most crypto-native issuers lack. An approval would place XRP exposure alongside its traditional bond and equity funds, which could widen the range of advisors and investors who consider the product.
The ruling also follows the end of Ripple's long legal fight with the SEC. This month Ripple dropped its cross-appeal, and the Second Circuit granted the mutual request to drop both sides' appeals, removing an open question that had hung over XRP ETF filings since 2020. For traders, the key signal after the decision may be where inflows go: whether a WisdomTree launch draws capital away from funds already trading, or whether the market has largely priced in the news. XRP traded around $1.30 to $1.32 on October 22 and 23, according to crypto.news.
