Public consultation on tokenized securities rule amendments closes
South Korea's Financial Services Commission will close its public consultation on proposed amendments to the rules governing the issuance and trading of tokenized securities on Nov. 11, 2026. The consultation opened on Oct. 2, and no specific coins are tied to the event.
What is happening
The Financial Services Commission (FSC) recently proposed amendments to rules covering the issuance and trading of tokenized securities, including stocks, bonds, funds and fractional investment products. The public consultation on these proposals runs from Oct. 2 through Nov. 11, giving market participants and the public a window to submit feedback before the deadline.
The consultation is part of preparations for South Korea's new tokenized securities framework, which is scheduled to take effect on Feb. 4, 2027. Financial institutions across the country are already building systems ahead of the change.
Several firms have announced activity in the area. Koscom plans to showcase its shared tokenized securities platform at Korea Fintech Week 2026, held Nov. 25 to 27 at the aT Center in Yangjae, Seoul, and organized by the FSC. Koscom has signed memorandums of understanding with 13 securities firms. Hanwha Investment & Securities completed a platform supporting Avalanche and Hyperledger Besu in September, while KB Securities is working with Securitize and the Optimism Foundation on tokenized funds, starting with a proposed money market fund on OP Mainnet. Eugene Investment & Securities is testing stablecoin settlement for tokenized securities subscriptions with BEATOZ, and Meritz Securities is exploring custody and tokenization infrastructure with Ripple.
Why it matters
The closing of the consultation marks the end of the formal public input stage for the proposed rule changes. The final wording of the rules will shape how brokerages, infrastructure providers and blockchain partners design their tokenized securities products before the framework takes effect in early 2027.
For holders and traders, the event is mainly a regulatory milestone rather than a market catalyst. It has no direct link to a specific token, but it affects the environment for blockchains and service providers named in Korean tokenization projects, such as Avalanche, Optimism-based infrastructure and stablecoin settlement trials. Observers may watch how the FSC responds to feedback and whether the rules are finalized without major changes.
