Franklin Templeton Bitcoin DRIP ETFs (FBEQ, FIBT) prospectus effective date
Franklin Templeton's two new Bitcoin DRIP ETFs, FBEQ and FIBT, carry a prospectus date of October 27, 2026, following their Nasdaq registration. The funds combine U.S. equity exposure with bitcoin (BTC), which they buy using stock dividends.
What is happening
On October 22, 2026, Franklin Templeton ETF Trust filed a Form 8-A to register both series under Section 12(b) on the Nasdaq Stock Market LLC. The filing also incorporates a Form N-1A amendment submitted to the SEC the same day. The amendment's cover page checks October 27, 2026, under paragraph (b), and both Form 485BPOS prospectus covers carry that date. The prospectuses state that the SEC has neither approved nor disapproved the securities. Nasdaq registration is a listing step, not SEC approval.
FBEQ tracks the VettaFi US Large-Cap 500 Bitcoin DRIP Index, which covers the 500 largest U.S. companies. FIBT tracks the VettaFi US Innovation 100 Bitcoin DRIP Index, built from the top 100 U.S. issuers listed on Nasdaq. Both indexes start with 95% in component securities and 5% in bitcoin, and both reinvest all stock dividends, regular and special, into bitcoin. Per the stated methodology, purchases occur at the market open on the day after the dividend ex-date.
The funds gain bitcoin exposure through exchange-traded products, including bitcoin-backed ETPs sponsored by affiliates of the investment manager. FBEQ lists a 0.09% management fee and FIBT lists 0.19%. Both prospectuses also include a voluntary waiver from Advisory Services covering part of the unified management fee, equal to sponsor fees that Advisory Services or its affiliates actually earned from certain underlying investments.
Why it matters
The funds offer a different route to bitcoin exposure than a spot bitcoin ETF. Bitcoin is a small fixed allocation at the start, and the dividend-reinvestment design adds to it over time as the underlying companies pay dividends. For holders of traditional equity funds, this is a way to hold broad U.S. stocks alongside a gradually growing bitcoin position.
For traders and market watchers, the date marks a procedural milestone in the launch of the products. Because Nasdaq registration is not an SEC approval, it is worth watching for the start of trading and for any further filings. The fee structure and the affiliated-ETP waiver are also worth comparing against other bitcoin-linked products.
