Gravity Alpha Mainnet shutdown and withdrawal deadline

01 November 2026, Sunday
Online Location
G · USDC · USDT · WETH · DAI Galxe (Gravity)

Galxe is decommissioning its Gravity Alpha Mainnet layer 2 on 1 November 2026, after which any tokens left on the chain can no longer be transferred. Assets such as G, USDC, USDT, WETH and DAI must be bridged out beforehand, and because of the roughly seven-day challenge period on the standard bridge, the practical deadline is around 25 October.

What is happening

Gravity Alpha Mainnet is the older version of the Gravity network, launched by Galxe in 2024 as a layer 2 on the Arbitrum Nitro stack with chain ID 1625. With Gravity L1 (chain ID 127001) now in full operation, the Alpha chain has served its purpose. Galxe's documentation lists it as "legacy" and advises moving all balances back to Ethereum before 1 November. After that date, anything still on the chain will not be transferable.

The exit route depends on the token. G, DAI and WBTC leave through the official Gravity bridge. USDC, USDT and ETH/WETH were issued via Stargate and can only be withdrawn there; on Stargate, USDC appears as USDC.e. The standard bridge has a challenge period of about seven days, so a withdrawal started on 25 October just fits, while one started on 29 October does not. For G there is also a Fast Withdraw option on the Gravity bridge that takes about ten minutes, after which the tokens can be bridged on to Gravity L1 using a small amount of ETH for fees.

Staked G must be unstaked first, since the staking interface goes away with the chain, and unstaking may carry its own cooldown. Galxe Quests contracts have already moved to Gravity L1, so claims fail if G is still on the old chain. Developers must redeploy dApps and scripts to Gravity L1 and update chain IDs and contract addresses. Some sources mention December 2026 for the technical wind-down, but the withdrawal date they require is still 1 November.

Why it matters

For holders, the issue is not price but access. G traded at around $0.0041 in the latest reporting, with a market capitalisation of just under $30 million, so balances are often small, but tokens left behind after the shutdown cannot be moved. Mistakes are easy to make because different tokens use different exits, and the wait on the standard route brings the real deadline forward by about a week.

For the wider market, the shutdown fits a pattern of smaller layer 2 networks being wound down as they compete for limited usage. For users who still collect Galxe points or rewards, having G on Gravity L1 is required for claims to work. Traders and holders should check which chain each balance sits on and plan the exit route well ahead of the cutoff.
