Samsung Wallet stablecoin (USDC) functionality launch in the US
Samsung Wallet is set to roll out USDC wallet functionality for eligible Galaxy users in the United States during the last week of October 2026, from October 26 to October 31. The launch initially supports USDC, with Solana (SOL) and Sui (SUI) named among the blockchain networks involved.
What is happening
Samsung Electronics America has announced that stablecoin wallet functionality will arrive natively in Samsung Wallet, so eligible users do not need a separate crypto app, a new wallet or self-managed private keys. At launch the feature will be available across 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices. Transfers require biometric authentication on a registered device, and selecting "Buy Stablecoin" will show USDC as the default dollar stablecoin.
Eligible users will be able to send USDC from Samsung Wallet to compatible crypto wallets internationally in seconds and with no transfer fees. They will also be able to send money to qualifying bank accounts in more than 60 countries, with recipients receiving funds in their local currency and without needing a crypto wallet.
Bastion, a licensed stablecoin custodian and infrastructure provider overseen by U.S. financial regulators, will power the cross-border payment framework. Bastion has partnered with Coinbase as its official sub-custodian, and all USDC in Samsung Wallet will be held via Coinbase Prime Vault. Infrastructure and blockchain network support will come from separate technical partners, including Solana and Sui. The launch follows earlier Samsung and Coinbase collaboration, including Samsung Pay as a payment option in the Coinbase app.
Why it matters
The integration places USDC inside a wallet app already installed on a very large base of U.S. smartphones, which lowers the setup steps typically associated with stablecoin use. For USDC holders, it adds a mainstream distribution channel and a practical remittance-style use case. Mentions of Solana and Sui as supporting networks may also draw attention to those ecosystems.
Traders and holders may want to watch how quickly eligible users adopt the feature and whether Samsung follows through on possible future capabilities, such as paying with stablecoins online or by tapping a Galaxy device in store, and expansion into additional markets depending on regulatory developments. Availability depends on device and user eligibility, so the practical reach at launch may differ from the headline device count.
