KenyaPlasma XPL monthly token unlock (first joint tranche)
On October 25, 2026, Plasma releases 227,777,777 XPL, about 5% of the circulating supply. It is the first of 24 equal monthly tranches that unlock on the 25th of each month until September 25, 2028.
What is happening
The tranche consists of three parts that take effect on the same day: 88,888,889 XPL for ecosystem and growth, 69,444,444 XPL for the team, and 69,444,444 XPL for investors. At a price of roughly $0.077, the total is worth about $17.6 million. That equals around 5.02% of the 4.53 billion XPL in circulation and 2.28% of the 10 billion total supply.
The date differs from the cliff of September 25, 2026, when a third of the team and investor allocations was released in one go. The remaining two thirds of those allocations now follow in even monthly portions, with October 25 as the first. The ecosystem pot has already been unlocking monthly for a year, at 88.9 million XPL per month, so the combined monthly inflow rises by about 2.6 times, to 227.8 million XPL.
If the schedule continues unchanged, the circulating supply would stand at around 7.27 billion XPL by October 2027, and all 10 billion XPL are released after the final tranche on September 25, 2028.
Why it matters
An unlock increases the freely available supply but does not force a sale. Team tokens are subject to individual vesting schedules, and ecosystem funds typically go toward liquidity, partnerships and incentive programmes rather than straight to an exchange. The schedule has also been publicly documented since the network launch, so it is not a surprise to the market. What changes from October 25 is the size of the steps, which are considerably larger than in the previous year.
For holders, one further point is relevant: locked team and investor tokens are excluded from staking rewards, so each tranche enlarges the pool eligible for future emissions. However, the planned inflation, starting at 5% per year and falling to a 3% floor, is not yet active. It depends on external validators and stake delegation being enabled, for which no date has been named. Traders may also want to check order-book depth, since XPL has a market capitalisation of around $350 million and thinner liquidity than large assets.
