This week Network Upgrade Blockchain

IoTeX network upgrade and hard fork at block 53,533,081

19 October 2026, Monday
Online Location
IOTX IoTeX

The IoTeX network is scheduled to undergo an upgrade and hard fork at block height 53,533,081, expected around 02:00 UTC on October 19, 2026. The event concerns the IOTX token, and Binance has said it will support the process.

What is happening

IoTeX will carry out a network upgrade and hard fork when its blockchain reaches block 53,533,081. The announced timing is an estimate: because the fork is tied to a block number rather than a fixed clock time, the exact moment depends on block production on the network and may shift.

Binance has announced that it will temporarily suspend IOTX deposits and withdrawals via the IoTeX network starting at approximately 01:00 UTC on October 19, 2026, about an hour before the expected upgrade. The same timing corresponds to the evening of October 18 in US Eastern time, where the upgrade is expected to complete around 10 p.m. ET and the suspension begins around 9 p.m. ET.

According to Binance, spot trading of the token will not be affected during the upgrade. The exchange will handle all technical work related to the upgrade and hard fork on behalf of its users, so no additional action is required from them. Once the upgrade is complete, Binance will wait until the IoTeX network is stable before restoring deposits and withdrawals.

Why it matters

Hard forks change the network protocol and can update the technical infrastructure of a blockchain. For IOTX holders, the main practical point is that the process requires node operators and services to run compatible software. Holders who keep tokens on exchanges that support the fork, such as Binance, do not need to take technical steps.

For traders and users who move IOTX on-chain, the key consideration is the temporary pause in deposits and withdrawals on Binance. Transfers started near the upgrade window may be delayed, so it may be worth checking exchange announcements and the progress of the network before moving funds. After the upgrade, it is worth watching whether the network operates normally and when the exchange resumes transfers. Nothing here is investment advice.
